Helping a global mobility-as-a-service provider locate new revenue opportunities during the pandemic

To little surprise, the coolest tech-enabled mobility service provider (read: operations in approximately 72 countries and 10,500 cities) was on the lookout for new revenue opportunities as COVID hit and found a reliable partner in MatchPoint. A team of six engineers and UX designers from MPS had OS-agnostic apps conceptualized, built, and deployed in the client's app ecosystem in just under 2 months exposing them to multiple new revenue prospects in a pandemic-impacted business landscape.


The new normal set just about every business on a search for new opportunities as they worked on building resilience to navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic. New revenue streams had to be pried open and how! Businesses around the world adopted unorthodox ways to seek out and seize the opportunities during the recovery phase of the pandemic and our client—a most pioneering one among the cab aggregators of the world—happened to be one of them. We, being innovation junkies at heart, followed suit—helping the client with complete re-engineering and design of their product to favor brand new revenue opportunities and tap into the pandemic's less conspicuous bright side.


Business Need

Our client is an $11 bn-strong, American mobility-as-a-service provider based in San Francisco, with 11,000 employees internationally​ and operations in over 900 metropolitan areas worldwide. In the wake of Covid-19 and a decline in revenue from ridership, they were charged with deploying a new app/service within their app ecosystem once a quarter. These apps were to be tested in select markets to find other opportunities for revenue. In order to scale their team and deliver these apps, they needed to have a team of strong engineers with deep knowledge of deploying mobile consumer-facing apps on a variety of mobile platforms.


Matchpoint Solutions used its global delivery model in Latin America and India for rapid team deployment and delivery across web/Android/iOS native apps. MPS leveraged its integration and data intelligence and engineering expertise to empower the mobility services major with the sharpest team of six engineers and UX designers who delivered platform-agnostic apps with the first roll-out in less than 2 months. We delivered end-to-end support from early conceptualization to actual deployment.


The Approach
